New superhero recruits will be able to experience Disneyland’s Avenger campus on June 4, Disney said in a theme park webcast Thursday.

The new zone is an extension of From disney The California Adventure Theme Park in Anaheim, California features Marvel’s Mightiest Heroes of Earth and Stars.

“What I can tell you is it’s awesome,” Josh D’Amaro told CNBC ahead of the webcast. “I think this will be an amazing addition to California Adventure. If you think about the [Marvel Cinematic Universe] and what’s happening on that front, as recently as “WandaVision”, it’s been hot. It’s a hot franchise. And now we have the ability to open that thing up to the world. “

The park was originally scheduled to open in July of last year, however, due to the coronavirus pandemic, theme parks in California have been closed since March 2020.

The two Disney parks in Anaheim will reopen on April 30 and will operate at approximately 15% of its cranking capacity.

The new terrain replaced A Bug’s Land and includes the Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission: Breakout ride at the edge of Hollywood Land. It will also include a new Spider-Man attraction, a restaurant called Pym Particles Test Kitchen, and an area based on Dr. Strange.

“We have the ultimate playground for Marvel,” D’Amaro said. “As fast as Kevin [Feige] and that the Marvel team can create characters and create stories, we can integrate them. “

Disney has previously announced that the Spider-Man ride will be based on the Worldwide Engineering Brigade aka WEB, a company that helps give ordinary people superpowers. The attraction allows customers to test their Webslinger vehicle. While driving the vehicle, little spider robots are released and you have to catch them with your new web-sling powers.

Encounters with the characters will be a big part of the Avengers campus. Thor, Black Panther, Black Widow, and many more will roam the country – visitors might get a glimpse of Trickster Loki as well.

D’Amaro teased “overblown” entertainment and technological innovation, including the potential for the company’s staggering technology to be showcased in the country. Stuntronics is a project that Disney pulled the curtain back on in 2018. Essentially, the Imagineering team and Disney’s development lab created a robot that can swing and turn in the air like a real stuntman.

In this case, the robot may look like Spider-Man, Marvel’s friendly neighborhood.

“There will just be shows,” D’Amaro said. “There will just be things that you can’t believe are happening in front of your eyes.”
